This could be the fact that you might be using mono audio.

No,listen to battle themes 1 and 3,the main melody for those tracks only play on the right ear.

I love this soundtrack but sadly the music on this April 18th, 2023 upload doesn't sound right :/ The melody's faint and it sounds out of proportion. Below I've attached the highest quality rip of Mother/EarthBound Beginnings I could find : )

Also, somehow, every one of the many uploads of this game's soundtrack keep missing the full actual credits music. it's not the same as airplane/tank. theres an entire second section to the song, please somebody update this on at least one of these many uploads of the ost lol
