Descent - MIDI Full Reproduced

Ah, the classic Descent soundtrack, displayed here in its original MIDI form. The music is so ingrained into the game experience that soon you identify the levels by the songs that play during them. The soundtrack pushes the MIDI format to the max and beyond, and carries influences as far ranging as Drum'n'Bass, Ambient, Rock, and Techno.

One of my favorites ever.

What BS is "NIBBISH" spouting about was my initial thought?! But just hearing the level soundtrack, I could not only remember the level but also its layout and the mission there within. It’s been a long long time and I am amazed! I’m going to replay the game.
I still think that it’s one of the most physiologically complex multiplayer head-to-head game I’ve ever played.

OPL Synthesis? Oah Please. Use a Wavetable instead. A good Wavetable. And then you will her one of the best MIDI soundtracks ever made for a game. Same gies for FF7 and Warcraft 2. OPL2 is cheap and not as intendet most times.

I was searching for these soundtrack for many years.
But I think SakuraTheSilly is correct.
They are not better than the original soundtrack.

So happy was I to find this. While listening to the even numbered ones, I came across an issue...I didn't really quite recognize any of the songs. That was until track 20 which has an unmistakable part within one of my favorite songs of the game. It may be my fault for having played the PS1 version, but they used a nice metallic-soundi ng guitar which made me fall in love with the music in the first place. I thank the one to upload these, but...it just doesn't sound right. It's equivalent to having Rob Zombie play horns instead of guitars.

To those of you bickering over audio file formats, "Some fighter jocks worship their [soft]ware, but I'm not the religious type."
Great soundtrack for a great game. A soundtrack like this wouldn't sound right at all for most games, but it absolutely captures the spirit of Descent. Sad that they decided to replace this sound with loud rock/electronic crap in Descent 2.
