Private Eye Dol (TurboGrafx-16) (gamerip) (1995)

My rating: 7.37/10
Best Tracks:
49 (vocals), 50 (same song but no vocals)
Also Good:
Tracks 14, 24, 25, 27, 30, 46-47 (starting at 1:09 in track 46 continuing into 47)

This album is a mess, especially considering it came out in 1995 on the Turbografx- that's a year after the PC-FX was released! Anyway, the first half of the tracks (1-32) are native Turbografx synth and they start bad. The instrumentation of these are basic and the composer was obviously learning on the job, albeit the songs do get better near the end. After that, tracks 33-50 are CD Audio, most of which are quite frankly unimpressive. There's one good track that's bisected across two tracks (46-47, the only one that does this!) and a good vocal song (track 49) that's obviously done by professionals and where they spent all their money. Overall, even though most the album is mediocre and sometimes dull, it does have some higher points. But for 1995? The synth is weak and is something you'd expect coming out of the late 80s when composers were just learning the system.
