PHALANX Original Sound Tracks (2006)

So, this is a bit of a frustrating album. The internal version sounds amazing, except for the guitar synth, which is sharp and painful. Unfortunately, that instrument is used frequently and it really undercuts some otherwise amazing tracks. There are some tracks where this instrument is used less or not at all, which I would recommend for the internal version (Stage2, Stage5, Stage6, Hidden STAGE2, Boss2, Ending2). There is also the MT-32 version here but it has that somewhat basic midi-sound that really removes the zing found in the internal version. Additionally, there's also occasionally some tearing in the recording. However, that said, I would recommend for the MT-32 (Stage3, Stage6, Hidden Stage1, Hidden Stage2, Ending 2). There are also the mixed tracks but I skipped them, given the sharpness of the guitar synth in the internal version. Overall, I'd give the two versions an 8.25/10.
