I'm surprised none of the ardent fanboys above noticed and mentioned that the mastering of this release is pretty questionable. This is not proper high quality music but one «"rEsToReD"» from the 22.05 KHz WAV gamerip - converted to 44.1 KHz through sample interpolation but most importantly the absent higher frequencies above 11.025 KHz were simply mirrored from the lower ones. This gives it a slightly unnatural and (let's be honest) slightly fake sound that wasn't in the original studio master. Use the proper lossless D2 and LOD OST CDs as the base and then add on top the tracks from this release that Blizzard weren't able to squeeze into the original D2 OST CD due to size constraints. Also note that many of the tracks from D2 OST CD have significantly shortened mixes compared to originals because of the same size constraints so it's not an easy choice which version to pick. BTW Blizzard back in 2001 had a lot of free space left on LOD OST CD to fit some D2 tracks missing from the first CD but they didn't do that because they didn't care enough. Also it's a shame that Blizzard released D2 Resurrected without the complete lossless soundtrack as opposed to EA with their C&C Remastered.
Matt Uelman wrote the best music I've ever heard in a game.
I don't think that Diablo & Diablo 2 would have been half as addictive without his music to accompany the games.
"Zakarum" (or maybe "Jungle" can't remember now) is by far my absolute favourite.
Real ly a masterpiece.
On e of the single best tracks in any video games.
i finishd it with 3 dif characters in hell dificulty HM.its huge part of my life, really huge and deep.i cannt name it "best GAME" "huge GAME" ...
its now part of my real life and part of my dreams.its ART.its gimme alots of feelin and alots idea alots of new dreams imagination ....
i cannt find any definition for art but im sure diablo is art.
i just realized, 'the canyon of the mages' part is missing... that song just plays in that part of the game (pretty small part) but is still one of the master pieces of chapter 2... please include it!!
diablo 2 -- best video game music ever -- Blizzard was idiotic to allow Matt to escape their talent pool -- D3 is a great game and the music is good, but is a pale shadow of D2.
Damn...I love the Diablo Music. So epic, and breathtaking somtimes. I remember that I used to always revisit the levels that had the best tunes, only to listen to them again. I am currently playing TorchLight (which is not as good as Diablo II) with the files I downloaded here. I had to convert them to OGG, rename the files and then place them in the Music folder of the game. TorchLight never sounded better than now... Awesome
This is just awesome! It's the best soundtrack I've ever heard from a game. The song Wilderness is my favorite, it's hard to explain what kind of feeling we get during I'm listening to this song. This is amazing, and so difficult to explain. Really. I have goosebumps.
I showed that song to one of my friends, but they just can't get how these songs are amazing.
I used to play to this game, and I played a lot (like many hours a day) but now I'm done with this game, haha, it reminds me this game.
I always wanted to get this soundtrack, but I never thought about it until I saw this website. Thank you very much, this is the kind of music that I really like. Its like if I would be in an other world.
I played a long time to Diablo II, and these songs remind me about this game alot. I always liked these, and it fits so well with the game!
I remember the first time playing this..kinda scary..and the first time i killed Andariel..OMG that music theme was perfect for that. Tristam still's the better one.
AWESOME ! the song of the best game in 2000 is finally revealed. Finally some guy with ingenuity come up with it's original song. I'm giving ya 10 out of 10.
For any one who haven't heard or played the game yet... I suggest you better play the game first and listen for the Tristram OST ! One of the wonder in gaming world. Fresh and Original !
The best soundtracks are those from Act V and some others (tombs and jungle)- they cannot be matched! And if I have to select the best of these... Siege and Lord of Destruction.
Ambient music that sets the mood to horror and suspence. Without this music Diablo would come cheap as it has bad graphics though great gameplay and storyline. Can't wait for Diablo III :P
This is on of the best soundtracks i've ever heard!
damn all you ppl are right Tristram is the best and its from diablo 1 cuz tristram is the main town in diablo 1 now i dont play Diablo 2 any more im stuck on WoW but i love to much the music from diablo 2 lol nice site
I really wish there was also the Temple one... parts of it are just so mysteriously creepy sounding. Ive listened to it alot on the blizz music player.
This is probably the most fitting soundtrack I've ever heard. It perfectly makes the mood of the game. And when the game's perfect, and the soundtrack's perfect, then you got something that makes you feel amazed. I especially love the drums and the 12-string guitars in this OST.
Sometimes when I'm listening to Godspeed You! Black Emperor, i'm reminded of Diablo 2. Just the way the music is... and also that song from 28 Days Later In the House-In a Heartbeat.
This is one of the greatest video game soundtracks ever created! It's just amazing. When you hear it in the game it sets the mood so well. If ur playing at night with all the lights off, u get the creepiest feeling. It just astounds me how amazing the music fits with the game. Plus it's an awesome soundtrack on its own without the game.
