Description

Taking place 100 years after Mega Man X, Mega Man Zero takes an even more serious tone when it comes to its story. The Zero games are praised for their stories being good, so you are in for a treat if you decide to play through these games. Mega Man Zero mixes Mega Man X gameplay with a more open approach. Instead of picking a stage to go to, you pick a mission to take on in one of the game's many areas. Once you complete the mission, you are teleported back to the base. You can leave the base and walk back to the areas where the missions take place to find items you missed. Zero gets four different weapons to use in the game. The Z-Saber and Z-Buster work like they did in the X games. But the two new weapons, the Triple Rod and Shield Boomerang are different. The Triple Rod has good range and attacks in all directions, and the Shield Boomerang protects from enemy fire and can be thrown when charged. Before a weapon can be used with all of its skills, it must be leveled up first. Leveling up weapons can take a while and requires nothing more than beating up enemies. No indication of how much EXP a weapon needs can be found anywhere in the game, so you just have to keep killing things until your weapon level increases. There is a new system in which you use these things called Cyber Elves. Cyber Elves can perform a specific task, such as healing you or providing cover fire, among many other things. Be careful, because once a Cyber Elf has served its purpose, it will die and be gone forever.

Played Mega Man Zero for the first time recently. I'm still trying to get through it but am enjoying the experience. I've gotten used to being extremely careful about what I do. If you fail a mission or use an elf, you can't play/use it again. The game is difficult but not in an unfair way, so it's fine. As for the soundtrack, I don't know how I feel about it. It has a more atmospheric vibe, which isn't a bad thing, but it is odd for a Mega Man game. I'm not saying it doesn't have upbeat tracks, because it certainly does, but most music in the game is more slow and methodical. (The Zero theme remix is great by the way!) Overall, enjoying it so far. Can't wait to see it to the end!

Mega Man Zero 1 is a good game with many flaws like the grinding issues (Energy Crystals and Weapon Grinding). It also has a retry chip system, but that isn't really an issue because Zero 1 isn't very difficult. In terms of difficulty, I'll place it in the medium range. As for the soundtrack, Zero 1 has a great soundtrack with my favorites being Zero's theme, The Ruins of The Lab, Cyber-Elf, Resistance, Dead Zone, Crash, Neo Arcadia, Fake, and finally, Area of Zero. The stages are fine, nothing memorable (besides the log carrier segments due to the screen crunch issue). As for the bosses, they're all fun and challenging with my favorites being Anubis Necromancess, Maha Ganeshariff, Fefnir, Hanumachine, Phantom, and Seraph X. The weapons in Zero 1 are... meh. The Shield Boomerang is pretty lame because it only blocks regular projectiles (in fact, I don't even better picking it up). But, you can throw it and you can use as a shield. If you're the spreedrunner type or a expert, then you can abuse the hell out of the Shiled Boomerang for bosses. However, sense I'm someone who is good at Mega Man games and not a spreedrunner or expert, I find it pretty useless. As for the Triple Rod, it sucks until level 3 where it becomes a decent weapon, but if you want to try out a different weapon in Zero 1, you gotta grind the weapon up... yay:l
Rating:
Game: 6.4/10.
Soundtrack: 7.7/10.

Mega Man Zero's Soundtrack Is Amazingly Great! The Game Itself Is The Least Best of The 4 Zero Games (To me). because Of 2 Flaws.
1.RetryChips:RetryChips Were First Introduced In this Game & My God Do They Suck. Instead Of Lives Giving You Chances To Beat The Stage. RetryChips Aren't Like That. If You Run Out Of RetryChips & Give Up, The Mission Will Be A Failure & You Can't Play The Level Again Unless You Load Your Save File & Try Again. Unlike Mega Man X8 Where You Can Buy RetryChips, In Mega Man Zero 1 You Can't Do That, But Thankfully The Factory Missions Have 2 Lives So That's A Good Grind Spot.
2.Grinding:Oh Boy... If You thought Castlevania II Simon's Quest Was Bad When it Comes to Grinding, Mega Man Zero 1 Is Much Worst. When You Start The Game, You Only Have 1 Slash Of the Combo & You Have To Grind To Max Your Weapon. This Wouldn't Be A Problem If It Didn't Require So Much. It Wouldn't Be Such A Huge Problem If You least Had The Combo When You start. In Mega Man Zero, Instead Of Finding Sub Tanks Or Heart Tanks, You Find Cyber elves & That Is where you Get Sub Tanks & Health Upgrades From. But, they Require A Crap Load Of Energy Crystals. (Small Energy Crystals Are Worth 4 While The Big Ones Are Worth 16). Health Upgrades Require 750 Energy Crystals & The Sub Tanks Require 1200. If You Want The Double Health Bar, You'll Need 3,000 ENERGY CRYSTALS!
By The Way, Unlike The Classic & The X Series, bosses Have 2 Or Sometimes 3 Health Bars. That Sounds Like A Lot but It Isn't Because With The Element Chips, They Take A Lot Of Damage. You Can Also Charge Your Z Saber & Slash While Dashing. Despite Those 2 Flaws, I Still Consider Mega Man Zero to be A Great Game.
Soundtrack:8.5/10.
Game:6.5/10.
Consider This A Mini review until I Make A Full Review On The Zero/ZX Games.
