Mario Kart Tour (Mobile, Android, iOS) (gamerip) (2019)

Someone really needs to remove the all of the battle tracks because they don't exist in this game, and them being in the datamined files was a misunderstanding. There are sound files for each of the battle tracks, but all of them are empty. There is only a single battle course track, and that is the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe SNES Battle Course 1 theme, which is used for all battle tracks. The files in the album were just taken from other Mario Kart titles such as 7, and should be removed: GBA Battle Course 1, GCN Cookie Land, and DS Twilight House. Only music tracks actually ripped from the game should be here.

Wii Rainbow Road wasn't ripped from this game either, it was taken from the MKWii Platinum Soundtrack which is mastered differently - misleading for being a gamerip.

Have you actually looked in the files, or are you making an assumption?

The reason the raw empty files are in the datamines, are because the files are actually in the game. The audio files that any audio program can open (.wav) don't include music that was not in the game files.

Yes I have, and I was upset about it because I thought we would be getting a higher quality version of the Wii/3DS renditions of the battle themes.

So...literally just what I said about the courses having files but being empty? You're kinda making this confusing by saying "the files are actually in the game" because you make it sound like the music files currently in this album are from the game when they are very much not and are never heard in the game/left in the files unused at all.

How do you know this? Nintendo just used the music from the wii, so your claim is pretty stupid.
The Wii versions of tracks often have much more bass than other songs, and most of the Tour versions of songs have decreased bass compared to their original counterpart. It's most likely an intentional design choice either for phones or just balancing the sound inside the game.

The way to tell it's not actually ripped from the game? Aside from just comparing the Platinum Soundtrack version's file length, it's as simple as putting it in an audio spectrum analyzer to confirm that difference.

On the left, the actual music direct from the game, and on the right, the song currently on the album. I used the original intro and loop files for the song inside the game to "rebuild" the other version including a fade out for a better comparison.

It's clear you don't have any idea about how this works, so it's bold of you to say stuff like "your claim is pretty stupid" without understanding it yourself. In the case of Wii Rainbow Road, it isn't that big of a difference, in fact Tour's version is lower quality, but this is still not ok, especially because it is mastered differently.

I remember the early days of this game first the demo: 10 characters, 7 karts and 6 gliders.
It introduced 3 new tracks: New York Minute, Tokyo Blur and Paris Promenade.
Along with unlocking characters and primary feature for living until ever so recently GACHA!
Which means pay for almost everything which is the curse of almost ever free game nowadays
This game could have been amazing but it decided to go the "Free To Play" trend.
It brought new characters like Pauline, Hammer Bro, Monty Mole, Chargin Chuck, Dixie Kong and Kamek(unused from Mario Kart 64 and 8/Deluxe)
along with many others.
And it even brought back old tracks from previous Mario Kart games excluding Wii U.
Bonus challenges reminiscent of Mario Kart DS's Mission Mode
And many other features that I haven't even mentioned!
This game could been perfect daresay better Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?
Talk about missed potential...
Credit to the Super Mario Wiki for some of this info.
P.S This not a bash to you Little Garfield i just needed to express my thoughts about this game.

Okay, I see a lot of discussion here in the comments about things, so lemme try and address as much as I can. So even though I was fully aware the original battle tracks aren't exactly used in the game despite being in the files, I hadn't removed them yet because I was holding out for them to correct their (to put it frankly) idiotic decision to reuse the MK8DX arrangement of SNES Battle Course 1, but countless attempts to get them to correct it from the entire community later and they haven't budged, so I'm just gonna remove them in my upcoming update of the Soundtrack. I do apologize if their previous inclusion was misleading or confusing to anyone out there, but nothing will ever be as confusing as their exclusion from the game to begin with.

Secondly, though it's pretty common knowledge that Nintendo basically never alters the music tracks from the original version of the arrangement they're reusing (regardless of if it's the track's original arrangement or a later rearrangement), the fact that the version of Wii Rainbow Road (or any of the Wii tracks) were slightly altered for MKT in terms of their bass - as your images clearly seem to indicate - is actually new information to me. Now how I ended up using the version of the song from the MKWii Platinum Soundtrack instead of the one from Tour's files is still beyond me, but I guess it wouldn't be the first time I would've messed up one of the songs without noticing. Early on, I originally messed up on Tokyo Blur and N64 Frappe Snowland, somehow having the prior be in mono and accidentally using the MKWii arrangement of N64 Sherbet Land for the latter despite it not being used in Tour. I'll own up to the mistakes I didn't know I made until now, and I guess all I can say is that I'll try to do better.

I'm working on the next update of the soundtrack now, so I'll try and address any of my mistakes in addition to adding all the recent new courses, the unique starting and victory themes used on Yoshi's Island (man, I love Goal & Score), and a bunch more final lap variants.
(Edit: Also, it just hit me that the name HalfHydra sounds super familiar to me, but I can't pin-point why...)

I should also apologize, I wasn't the nicest when I brought this up. I completely agree, I was really sad when they confirmed it wasn't a mistake and was "functioning as intended" with the same soundtrack.

It seems I was actually wrong myself when I just went back to double check everything was how I thought it was. I went back to the Mario Kart Wii gamerip on this site which I didn't check before, and surprisingly it matches Tour once you match the volume (sorry @ego-lay_atman-bay, you were right that it was the same in Wii and Tour - however the song on the album was not). It turns out the platinum soundtrack is actually what is different - I got thrown off by it being in this album lol. Every single song in the platinum soundtrack sounds somewhat different if you compare it to the MKWii gamerip. I originally thought that was just due to it being higher quality, but part of me feels like the soundtrack uses more bass, even when trying to match the volume of certain instruments. The biggest example I can give to show what I mean is Koopa Cape, it sounds like it has way louder bass regardless of matching the volume level in the platinum soundtrack, Rainbow Road is a good one to tell the difference in the bass too when compared to the game's audio too.

I thought that Tour had been mastering songs differently because I was comparing the Tour versions to the platinum soundtrack without knowing that it wasn't exactly the same as the versions in the Wii game but slightly higher quality. It also doesn't help that Tour is inconsistent with which versions of the songs they use from which game, for example I now realize most of the tracks use the MK7 versions (All retro tracks that were in 7 generally use the 7 version, with I believe 1 or 2 exceptions), except for Wii tracks which always use the Wii versions. Mario Kart 7 is what did a lot of changes to the songs, just listen to the difference of the MKDS Battle Theme in Mario Kart 7 (Palm Shore) versus the same song in Wii (DS Twilight House) - that should help show you why I thought this was the case. So when I originally thought there were mastering differences for Tour, I think all the mastering differences I thought existed were actually just the result of them using different versions of songs from different games. My bad on this one, I just figured this out the hard way.

The only reason I even noticed this is because of what I said above about it being different sounding, it was such a weird thing for me to find out it sounded somewhat different than what was in the actual Mario Kart Wii files.
Also, it just hit me that the name HalfHydra sounds super familiar to me, but I can't pin-point why.
I did a lot of datamining stuff for the game for a couple years such as dumping the course data every tour, I stopped because I needed to focus on other life stuff. Maybe that's why

Hmm, that's interesting... well I went in and fixed Wii Rainbow Road while adding the latest batch of new songs up through SNES Bowser Castle 3 in the 2023 Bowser Tour.

Hey, then it makes sense that you seem to know the game in and out, so don't feel bad about the fact that you knew the two versions of Wii Rainbow Road were different! I mean it's a good thing in my mind that you noticed so that I could fix my error. Also, did you used to have a Discord server, because if so I think I was on it back in early 2022, with that being why I recognized your name before.

And yeah, don't worry about it. I had forgotten to remove them once they unfortunately confirmed they wouldn't be using them, so you had every right to point it out. But yeah, as an active member of the MKT community and a self-proclaimed Mario Kart expert, you better believe that I had a very thoroughly-written out support message about the matter that utilized the character-limit to its most last October...

hopefully this gets updated soon, it would be fantastic to finally have a full ost for tour that everyone can download šŸ˜ƒšŸ˜ƒ
